Neon lamp relies on the electrode heads at both ends of the lamp to strike the rare gas in the lamp tube under a high voltage electric field.
It is different from the ordinary light source which must burn the tungsten wire to a high temperature in order to emit light, causing a large amount of electric energy to be consumed as heat energy, with the same amount of electricity, neon lights are brighter. Neon lamp because of its cold cathode characteristics, working lamp temperature below 60 °C, so can be placed in the open air in the rain or in the water work. Also because of its working characteristics, neon light spectrum has a strong penetration, in rainy or foggy days can still maintain a good visual effect.
